We were catching an early flight from Stanstead airport and for that purpose it was a fantastic place to stay. Beware the planes overhead as it is very close to Stanstead, but this did not bother us. Due to this it is not really a place for a holiday. Having said that it was a great hotel.
There was a broken light bulb and the shower head was a bit iffy.
I feel that the hotel stay was value for money, we also liked the fact that the hotel supplied ear plugs to help with the noise of the planes from nearby stansted. It was a very relaxing place.
On arrival we were told that we had been put in a room with twin beds when we had booked a double room. We were also told that the hotel was full so difficult to move, but the receptionist managed to move a single gentleman from a double room to the twin. After a long day we really didn't appreciate this mix up.
Nice and relaxed hotel, clean, friendly staff, aircraft not a nuisance, would put it as a 3star not a truly 4star but still decent value for the price and would recommend
Hotel setting and location to stanstead, room 12 was generous in size.
Not a complaint as such, but because of a prom held at the hotel, the hotel guests came a distant second on the evening of 22 may, I booked a meal for 7pm, after sitting down was told we could not be served until 10pm, they did other taxi to local restaurant if we wished.
distance to Stanstead airport
We had a short stay at the hotel which im disappointed at as I wished we had booked in for longer, however it was an over night stay as its real close to stansted airport. The staff here are excellent, nothing is to much trouble, such a lovely welcoming and I love the hotel and everything about it.would stay here again without question.
staff very friendly, restaurant staff could not have been more friendly and helpfull
ideal stop over for stanstead airport
room quite noisey windows should be double glazed
The drive up to the building lead you to believe, you were entering a stately home. The building was lovely on first impressions. Staff were excellent, apart from the waitress at breakfast, who had a terrible cold.
Our room (25)smelt of drains all night. There were spiders webs in the dining room, that had been there for some time.
Beautiful old manor house. Superb bathroom excellent food and service very reasonably priced
The aeroplanes. Did not realise from details of hotel on website that it is so near to the runway at Stanstead. Hotel is very noisy as it is literally just at the end of the runway and planes are directly overhead and very low in the sky.
Although the shower itself was excellent the water poured straight out of the tray and gathered on to the bathroom floor.
The staff - professional and extremely helpful - especially reception. Good range of breakfast choices and the breakfast room was light airy and clean with lovely relaxing views. Hotel - architecturally beautiful.
Re: Comfort/Safety The room (No. 60 -chalet style room) presented a number of dangerous situations re: Health and Safety. The bed, which was on casters, was sited on a wooden floor and moved quickly and erratically presenting what could be a major safety hazard. The door to the bathroom jammed and thus came to a sudden and severe halt which could easily result in injury. It also resulted in loud scraping noises every time it was opened and must have caused disturbance for guests within associated rooms within the chalet. Parking problematic because of a wedding function. Chalet rooms presented a dangerous road for children to cross to access breakfast and main hotel facilities.
The overall package was well presented and well managed with friendly and efficient staff members, the gounds were well kept and generous parking available.
Scenery only and the look of hotel outside.
Poor bath facilities, dust on floors. Paid alot of money for not much at all. Expected to have a nice room but got there and was dissappointed.
Nice helpful staff, Very cheap at £35.
Right under flight path, very noisy. Wooden floors and thin walls / windows everywhere add to this with guest and door slamming noise. If you go stay in the new building/annexe, it is more soundproof (flights stop at midnight and start at 6 am). Take earplugs.
